Years ago, a predecessor restaurant (with Grass in the name) was our go-to place for Thai food – with great service and good Thai food with several unique dishes. Then ten years or so ago, new owners took over and everything declined; we gave up on the place. But reading that a new Thai restaurant (without the Grass in the name) had recently opened, we decided on a spur-of-the-moment. We were greeted by a lovely young woman, who turned out to be an owner with her husband and mother-in-law). We ended up ordering from the dinner menu, but were immensely pleased by the dishes place on our table. The House Roils were fresh and crisp, served with two dipping sauces – one of them a recipe of the owner’s mother. The Larb was finely ground chicken with the requisite play of flavors and tang. When we mentioned a squid dish that the old Lemongrass offered, the proprietress offered a sweet-sour dressed salad of perfectly poached and impeccably fresh shrimp, squid, scallops, and mussels. We also had the pad see ew – the best we’ve had in a long time – generous with pork and broccoli rabe -- caramelly with a bit of smoke. We also enjoyed a delicious Panang curry with chicken. Service was attentive and pleasant. This place is probably fighting against the reputation of its predecessor, but absolutely deserves to thrive. It’s great to have a worthwhile Thai restaurant bank in the Landmark area. We will be back!
